New En-suite Build on UKC Campus

Woodlands Project

First of all, last week we were granted permission for a brand new development of en-suite student accommodation. What is especially relevant here is that it is right on UKC’s campus doorstep, Woodland Way.

The two, six bedroom flats will be finished to a high standard, with large bedrooms and large communal areas with flat screen TVs. Complete with laundry facilities and cycle park on site.


A lot of consideration went into the design of the building. Making sure it is in keeping with the surrounding areas. Therefore the brick and render on the outside of the building matches elements of the surrounding properties.


While the demand of en-suite accommodation has been ever growing in recent years, it is not new news that this is the standard of accommodation many students are expecting these days. Especially at the affordable prices they need them to be. En-suites have long been seen as a luxury, now the attitude is that it is a starting to be seen as a necessity.


JG has a long working relationship with UKC and this project  was supported by them. With their interest being it will keep their students in close proximity of campus facilities including the SU Bar.

The Council granted permission for the project as the high quality finish of the accommodation will enhance the character and appearance of the locality. Which is in accordance with the existing and emerging planning policy requirements of the Canterbury Local Plan.


Below is the proposed layout of the ground floor flat. The large windows will offer the property plenty of light, complementing the spacious interior.

The student bedrooms will be finished to a high standard as expected in new purpose built student accommodation. With the built in amenities, it will optimise the space giving it a fresh modern feel.


As a result of the new accommodation being in such prime location to UKC, these properties are sure to be snapped up quickly! We will be releasing more information on the build in time to be booked from November 2017, ready to be occupied from September 2018.
